My loved one passed without any burial arrangements. Can we just bury them in the back yard?
No, not on a short timeline. In Michigan, it is possible to create a family cemetery of one acre or less on private property. The land has to be surveyed and recorded. You would need zoning approval and a permit from the health department. This process may take many months.
Can I buy and pick up a GRC casket today?
Usually, yes. We try to keep our standard size Back-To-Earth Casket in stock at our workshop location. If you need to purchase a casket immediately, please call us at 906.251.0166 to make sure we are available to assist you. We will help load the casket into your vehicle and have flagging for your use. You will need to bring tie down supplies(ratchet straps are best) and a tarp if there is a chance of rain/snow.
If my loved one is cremated, do I still need to buy a casket?
No. Per The Funeral Rule, funeral homes offering cremations must make alternative containers available. Often these are made of fiberboard or cardboard. You may still wish to purchase a casket if there will be a funeral/viewing or if loved ones are to attend the cremation.
How soon can you deliver?
We guarantee delivery within 2 weeks of order date for in stock items. We can deliver to you or directly to the funeral home. For funeral home delivery, we will communicate with your funeral director about times and location for delivery. You do not need to be present for delivery, but you may if you wish. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule, but can not guarantee delivery sooner than 2 weeks. Regular delivery rates apply and start at $50.
