This is our growing list of cemeteries within Marquette County, plus a few in Alger County. We have noted a green burial status for each. If your cemetery is listed as “not offering green burial sites at this time”, please call them to find out if their status has recently changed. Perhaps they will work with you to be the first! *Helpful Tips – Be sure to ask for complete pricing and any cemetery specific stipulations that apply to green burials. For example, some cemeteries only offer plots to residents or charge more for non-residents. There may be a specific area set aside for green burial or the Cemetery Sexton may allow a green burial in any plot. Also, grave plantings, headstones and markers may or may not be approved for green burial plots. If family and friends want to dig and/or close the grave, or carry the casket to the grave site, be sure to ask if the cemetery and/or your funeral director will accommodate that. It can help to think through the event(s) and make a list of questions before calling.

Conservation Cemeteries
